Hello everyone, and welcome to the week! It’s time once again for our look back at the noteworthy updates of the last seven days. Those dog days of summer, eh? Technically, today is a holiday here in Japan. I will always work if I am physically able to, so here we are. It’s an oddly Apple Arcade-heavy list today, but what can I do? The updates are the updates. Of course, you can keep an eye out for updates yourself by participating in the TouchArcade forums. This weekly summary is just here to fill you in on the things you might have missed. Let’s go for it!
Hello Kitty Island Adventure,
In case any school-age kids are playing this game, they’re getting their heads-up that school is back in session soon whether they like it or not. The Scholastic Celebration sees Chococat trying to cheer up Badtz-maru, who is glum about going back to the books. This update also allows you to play as a sheep, make some milkshakes, tend a garden in the greenhouse, and take on a bunch of new quests. That’s just scratching the surface, so fire this one up and check out what’s what.
Tamagotchi Adventure Kingdom,
Look, I don’t mean to feature this game the same time as Hello Kitty. I’m not trying to start anything, I promise. At any rate, the update this time around adds a new camera tool. Now you can take pictures! Isn’t that fun? There are filters, poses, and frames to unlock, and some new photo-themed missions and rewards. There are other photo-related bits in here, and one thing that has nothing to do with any of that. Campfire Fast Travels are once again free, thanks to some strong player feedback on the change. Good!
Tomb of the Mask+,
This is for the Apple Arcade version, not the regular one. Do make a note of that somewhere. Anyway, two bits to this update. First of all, the Tomb League. Compete with other players in a 48-hour competition with some sweet rewards on offer. Second, Tomb Season. More rewards here, this time for questing for crowns. You would think crowns would be their own reward, but the economy is something else these days. There has also been a nice addition to the UI in the form of a replay button. Get back into the game faster!
Ridiculous Fishing EX,
It is so weird to see genuine new stuff added to Ridiculous Fishing. Will I ever get used to it? Maybe not, and thus today it gets the coveted UMMSotW award. This new version lets you try out Fly Fishing, which naturally requires you to buy a new helicopter. You know, for flying. Bring the newest weapon, the Railgun, or make use of the new Periscope to check out the situation before you strike. Some other little changes and fixes have been made, so if you have Apple Arcade make sure you give this updated version a look. Fly Fishing is a hoot!
Sneaky Sasquatch,
The sneakiest sasquatch around is up to shenanigans yet again! This time, taking advantage of the recent opening of the fire station, the sasquatch is going to take a swing at being a firefighter. New mask, same task, time to save the town! Also in this update: you can ride the bus now, and there’s a new person in the Mayor’s office you can talk to if you want to expand the bus’s network. Very sneaky, taking public transit. No one would ever expect to see a sasquatch on a bus.
Disney Heroes: Battle Mode, Free
I’m not sure about your opinions on the matter of whether or not we talk about Bruno, but the latest hero added to Disney Heroes might have some thoughts on the situation. Mirabel Madrigal from Disney’s Encanto is ready to bring her gift to your squad! Wait, what was her gift again? Reconciling strained familial relationships and helping to resolve intergenerational trauma? Well… uh… I’m sure that might be useful in some fight or another. Good luck, Mirabel!
Disney Magic Kingdoms, Free
Everyone’s favorite characters from 101 Dalmatians are joining the Magic Kingdoms! No, not the dogs. They’re already here. No, not Cruella. I think she’s already here? No, not her henchmen. Anita and Roger! You know, the humans that own the dogs! That guy who writes the piano jingle about Cruella, and his wife. You’re not excited? Okay, they are bringing Freckles the dog. There, now you can be excited. A nice little mini-event, as a treat.
Marvel Contest of Champions, Free
Contest of Champions always has that ball rolling, and we’ve got even more new Champions joining the game with this update. Enchantress and Beta Ray Bill are the characters in question, and you can’t get much better than Beta Ray Bill. No matter what the problem is, you really should try applying Beta Ray Bill to it before moving to other options. New quests, new events, and other bits and bobs round this one out. Ah, I really want to see Beta Ray Bill in a movie. With Guardians and Thor apparently finished, the chances of that happening are smaller and smaller, though.
Stone Story RPG, Free
This game has just sort of kept updating while I’ve had my eye off it, it seems. My bad! Apparently, this game is ten years old. I’m sure the app version of it isn’t, but let me check. No, I seemingly reviewed this last year. Well, I’m sure it’s great that I can’t remember the passage of time correctly. That aside, there is an event going on in-game to celebrate the ten years of fun. There are a number of other minor tweaks, including adjustments to the bestiary and some bug fixes, but I’m really just ringing the dinner bell about that anniversary event.
Toy Blast, Free
And as we often do, we’re going to end on the obligatory free-to-play matching puzzle game update of the week. Toy Blast this time, which tells you where my head’s at. The usual thing, then. Fifty new levels, some vague theme involving snacking late at night, and that’s it for that. I miss when some effort used to go into these notes, but I suppose I’m the only one reading them at this point. Everyone just does the boop-boop auto-update thing and never sees the patch notes. I see you, people who write the notes. I appreciate you.
That about wraps it up for last week’s significant updates. I’m sure I’ve missed some, though, so please feel free to comment below and let everyone know if you think something should be mentioned. As usual, major updates will likely get their own news stories throughout this week, and I’ll be back next Monday to summarize and fill in the blanks. Have a great week!
