Following the announcement that Horizon Zero Dawn is getting remastered this October, PlayStation has raised the price of the PS4 edition of the game.
Price tracker PSPrices.com keeps tabs on the cost of thousands of games, and according to its data Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition has cost a stable £15.99$19.99 on PSN since mid-way through 2019. The only time that price has changed was whenever the game would go on sale which would typically drop the price to £7.99/$9.99.
That is, until now. Following the reveal of Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered and the announcement that existing owners of the PS4 game will be able to upgrade for $10 (UK pricing has not been confirmed), the price of Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition has leapt up to £34.99/$39.99 on PSN. That’s just over double what it cost previously.
The good news is that you can still pick up the physical version of the game for £15.99 on Amazon. Sadly the price on Amazon US reflects the PSN price at $39.99, but there’s always Ebay.
The reasoning is pretty simple: Sony didn’t want a massive influx of people rushing to buy the game for £15.99/$19.99 so they could then get the Remastered version for a total of $29.99. Now, you’ll need to pay $39.99 to buy then game, then pay $10 for the upgrade which will bring the total price to $49.99, which just so happens to be RRP of Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered.
How do you feel about the price hike?
