Hello everyone, and welcome to the week! It’s time once again for our look back at the noteworthy updates of the last seven days. I’m not feeling very good today, friends. I’ll be heading to the hospital soon to get checked, but I’ve managed to scrabble together a list of new updates for you to look over. I apologize if the entries are lacking my usual energy. Of course, you can keep an eye out for updates yourself by participating in the TouchArcade forums. This weekly summary is just here to fill you in on the things you might have missed. Let’s go for it!
Honkai Impact 3rd, Free
It’s Honkai Impact 3rd‘s turn in the update rotation, it seems. There’s a new battlesuit in the form of Jovial Deception: Shadowdimmer, which I presume is a lamp of some kind because that’s the best way I know of to dim shadows. A new AstralOp, a new chapter of the main story, a new event called Schicksal Work Guide, some new outfits to collect, new weapons with fancy names, and a new Stigmata. Basically, it’s a normal update for this game in every conceivable way, but if you’re enjoying what it’s serving then there’s nothing wrong with that.
PiKuBo – 3D Nonogram Puzzles, Free
More puzzles for PiKuBo, and you love to see it. This pack is actually themed, with its thirty-six puzzles all covering Olympic sports. As usual, it sells for a very reasonable $0.99. Also in this update is a new setting that allows you to prevent the slider from automatically hiding, if you so wish. A few bugs needed to be fixed as well, and they have indeed been patched up. Love the bug fixes, always.
Vay, $5.99
You’re so Vay, you probably think this update’s about you. Oh, it is. Well. What can you do, then? SoMoGa continues its work hammering this ancient app into fighting shape, taking on tons of suggestions from the players and doing what it can to implement them. This time, that adds up to a new option to switch to a more classic 16-bit style of border, an option that allows you to enable or disable the movement of those irritating NPCs wandering about, and some different orderings when items are re-sorted. That’s just a few little things, but it’s heartening to see a developer going so hard to meet requests like this.
MARVEL Future Fight, Free
A timely Deadpool and Wolverine-themed update for Marvel Future Fight, featuring new uniforms for Deadpool and Wolverine, a new Tier-4 advancement for DP, a new Tier-3 super villain added in the form of Cassandra Nova, some new Transcend Potential heroes, and some improvements to the Alliance Conquest mode. Actually, Deadpool gets two new uniforms here. Out of respect to that Hugh Jack-Not uniform and the fact that Deadpool is basically Spider-Man with the volume turned up, I’m awarding this game the coveted UMMSotW prize for the week. Congrats!
Injustice 2, Free
Don’t forget DC! It is still here! That Superman movie next year is going to be dope, you wait and see! For now, we’ve got a new Legendary Injustice Season Pass available in this game, offering Legendary Raven as a reward for completing objectives. Sure, it’s a new way to generate more money for a game that seems to flip-flop between alive and dead. But it’s something to do, even if you’re aren’t buying one of the fancy passes. That’s not nothing.
Taiko no Tatsujin Pop Tap Beat,
A new Taiko no Tatsujin Pop Tap Beat update means new songs, though most of you probably won’t know any of this batch. There are six in total, including Show, Monster, Honoo no Fighter -INOKI BOM-BA-YE-, Doka Doka, Ohayo! Taiko Summer, and Natsumono. Plenty of summer vibes there, and who knows? Maybe you’re familiar with legendary, sadly-departed pro wrestler Antonio Inoki’s entrance music. Either way, you’ve got new tunes to tap to, so tap to it!
Hello Kitty Island Adventure,
Oh, fiddlesticks. I was supposed to save the UMMSotW award for this game. Let me see what else I have. Ah, here we go. A somewhat dusty UMMBRotW prize. That’s almost as good! At any rate, this game is a year old now. Wow! To celebrate, there’s a Friendship Festival event going on where you collect Friendship Charms by taking photos with various characters. You know there will be some good rewards for that. There’s also some intriguing new story content at the Heart of the Island, so be sure to head on over there. Maybe a new song, too? You’ll also be able to unlock the ability to bring two companions with you at once, which mathematically speaking means double the fun. Can’t argue with that, it’s science!
Grindstone,
It’s time for grinding! The kind of grinding that a lot of people seem to like, as opposed to walking back and forth killing giant hornets for five hours to buy a copper sword. What it amounts to here is a whopping one hundred new levels to play, and that is quite a load to drop at once. Hopefully it will keep you busy until the next update, whenever that may be.
Angry Birds Reloaded,
The Angry Birds decided to take a cruise (three-hour? Uncertain) but when the weather started getting rough their tiny ship was tossed. It set ground on the shore of an uncharted desert isle, with Red Bird! And Silver too! The Bomb Birds, and Chuck! The Mighty Eagle, and the rest are here in this new 30-level episode! Plus: a new lava mechanic, because nothing evokes the summer we’re currently having like boiling to death in the heat.
Toon Blast, Free
Let’s wrap it up with the obligatory free-to-play matching puzzle game update for this week, this time looking at Toon Blast because I am least mad at it right now. The new Pantomime Trio episode offers up fifty new levels to play, and presumably some kind of story content most people will skip through. The people are here for the puzzles, and the puzzles have been delivered. Rejoice!
That about wraps it up for last week’s significant updates. I’m sure I’ve missed some, though, so please feel free to comment below and let everyone know if you think something should be mentioned. As usual, major updates will likely get their own news stories throughout this week, and I’ll be back next Monday to summarize and fill in the blanks. Have a great week!
