In just over a month Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will launch on Xbox and PC, with a PS5 version coming in 2025. A whole host of new previews and interviews have gone up, and with them a heap of information, including what we can expect in terms of performance.
Talking to Jez Corden of Windows Central, Creative Director Axel Torvenius was asked about how the game will perform on Xbox Series S and Series X. In particular, Corden wanted to discover how the Series S would handle Indy’s new adventure. It turns out, it’s good news as both machines will apparently be “running smoothly at 60”.
“It might be that we will release even more details in terms of specifics, technical details, as we get closer to launch, once we see all the telemetry on performance.” said Torvenius. “But what I can tell you is that the ambition is that the game runs at 60 FPS on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, and that, you know, it shouldn’t be compromised in the visuals or the experience of the product. It should feel cohesive, running smoothly at 60 on both.”
Of course, that leaves a lot of questions about exactly how Machine Games will be able to get 60FPS out of the weaker Series S. Presumably, the game will take a fairly substantial hit in terms of its visuals to achieve 60 frames. It may also have a separate visual mode that drops the FPS to 30 in exchange for prettier graphics.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle launches on December 9th on Xbox and PC, and will be available to Game Pass Ultimate subscribers from day 1. The PS5 launch will follow sometime in 2025.
