The Cleveland Cavaliers are expected to be without forward Isaac Okoro for more than two weeks because of a sprained AC joint in his right shoulder.
Okoro’s injury occurred during the third quarter of Monday’s 130-101 road victory against the Brooklyn Nets. Okoro played 20 minutes, scoring 12 points.
The team is scheduled to re-evaluate the injury around the new year.
Known for his defense, Okoro has helped Cleveland to an NBA-best 23-4 record. A starter in 16 of the 23 games he has played, Okoro has averaged 6.6 points with 2.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 21.0 minutes per contest.
The fifth overall selection by the Cavaliers in the 2020 NBA draft out of Auburn, the 23-year-old has averaged 8.4 points with 2.8 rebounds in 302 career games (232 starts). He signed a three-year, $38 million contract extension with Cleveland this past offseason.
