PS5 Pro to be announced in September, console design leaked – WGB

Email :27

The existence of a PS5 “Pro” model is basically an open secret at this point, with some people even saying that developers at Gamescom were openly discussing its existence. That’s just left us twiddling our thumbs, waiting to see when Sony might finally lift the lid on its console refresh.

Well, it seems like we won’t be waiting much longer. According to Dealabs user billbil-kun, who has an impressive track record, Sony will be officially announcing the new console, which will indeed be called the PS5 Pro, in the first half of September. You can read the article via Google Translate here.

But billbil-kun’s information runs even deeper than that, as he claims to have gotten hold of the official packaging for the console. Citing copyright reasons, billbil-kun couldn’t share the actual packaging and instead made the drawing above. As you can see, it looks pretty much like the existing PS5 Slim, but with a new set of stripes halfway down the machine’s exterior. billbil-kun does say the it appears slightly thicker than the slim.

The author speculates that the faceplates may be compatible with existing options.

The model shown clearly doesn’t have a disc-drive, and billbil-kun states that they are currently unsure if there will be a version with the drive included.

Finally, the article confirms the console will ship with the standard Dualsense controller.

Sadly, no new details on the console’s performance were revealed. Back in April, Youtuber Moore’s Law is Dead leaked official Sony documents discussing the machine. These documents were verified by IGN, but the original video was taken down by a copyright claim by Sony, essentially confirming them to be real.

It’s difficult to get an exact idea of the performance increase we can expect to see because changes in architecture make it tricky to compare. At a rough guess though, it seems like we could be looking at anywhere from 30%-45% faster overall, based on the ongoing arguments from around the Internet. That doesn’t account for the new PSSR machine learning though, which could be the console’s secret sauce.

Does the PS5 Pro appeal to you, or are you happy with your existing PS5?
