Confirming our report from April, the Green Bay Packers revealed their new white alternate helmets on Thursday morning and announced they’ll debut them against the Houston Texans on Oct. 20.

This marks the second white helmet in franchise history, as the Packers briefly wore a white shell with a single green stripe down the center and a gray facemask from 1956-58.

They were paired with a green or white jersey and white pants that were completely devoid of gold, and acted as an alternate design in 1956-57 before being worn exclusively during the 1958 season.

The new white helmets, meanwhile, include Green Bay’s primary logo on the sides and a green and white striping pattern down the center, matching the Packers’ standard gold helmets.

Perhaps the lack of gold on the helmets is a nod to the original white lid, though they’ll be paired with their all-white Color Rush uniforms, which were introduced in 2016 and feature gold on the collar, sleeves and pants.

With that, Green Bay become the fourth franchise to introduce a white alternate or throwback helmet this offseason, joining the Jacksonville Jaguars, Minnesota Vikings and New York Jets

The Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos, New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans have also added white helmets to their respective rotations after the NFL relaxed its helmet rules ahead of the 2022 season.
