Two victims have reportedly been identified following a fatal explosion involving a Delta plane tire near Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

More Details About The Identities Of The Deceased Victims
According to WSBTV, the two victims who passed away amid the explosion have been identified as 58-year-old Mirko Marweg and 37-year-old Luis Aldarondo. As The Shade Room previously reported, the men were initially identified as a Delta employee and a contractor. At this time, however, it remains unclear which of the two victims worked for Delta and which was the contractor.
AP News reports that Marweg’s body was “unrecognizable.” Additionally, his family reportedly relied on his tattoos and a lanyard to identify him. Before the tragedy, Marweg reportedly worked for Delta for over 20 years.

Furthermore, WSBTV noted that the identity of the third victim — who is now hospitalized after the explosion — has not been revealed. As The Shade Room previously reported, the third victim was initially noted as a second Delta employee.
AP News adds that the third victim remains “under medical care” as of Wednesday, August 28.

As The Shade Room previously reported, the tire explosion occurred during the early hours of Tuesday, August 27. AP News reports that “wheel parts” were “being disassembled” when they exploded. Furthermore, the outlet has clarified that the wheel was “not attached to a plane at the time.”
Amid the blast, Marweg and Aldaronado were killed, while the third victim reportedly sustained “major” injuries.

In response, Delta confirmed the “loss of two team members and the injury of another.” Furthermore, the airline asserted that it is working with “local authorities and conducting a full investigation to determine what happened.”
WSBTV has reported that the tire that prompted the explosion originated from a Las Vegas flight.
